Three to an order and fried until golden, our empanadas are made with house masa and filled with cheese that stretches with every bite. They're one of the easiest starters on the menu to share, and they tend to disappear fast.
What's in it
The classic Empanadas are filled with melted Oaxaca cheese, garnished with Cotija and guacamole, and served with chipotle crema for dipping. Oaxaca cheese melts into long, stretchy strands, while the Cotija adds a salty finish and the chipotle crema brings a little smoke. A trio is $9.95.
Upgrade to birria
The Birria Empanada ($12.90) keeps the melted Oaxaca cheese and adds braised pulled beef. It's garnished with guacamole and served with chipotle crema and consomé, so you can dip it the way you'd dip a birria taco: generously.
How to fit them into a meal
- As a starter: one trio to share before the tacos arrive
- With drinks: crisp masa and melted cheese are a natural match for a margarita
- As a lighter meal: pair a trio with a salad like Casero Greens
- For the table: order the classic and the birria side by side and compare
Empanadas are an especially good call during happy hour, which runs 3–6 PM daily except Tuesdays with $10 margaritas and $7 draft beers.
